The Goose Station Degustation Part 1

WARNING: Do not read in the middle of the night when you’re about to get hungry. (A lot of people have been complaining that I’ve been doing too many food posts at night! Sorrryyy!)

image

Can you just look at my smile at that photo above?! Nothing makes me more happy than a night of degustation with Eugene! This was before he left for Germany and I know he knows I’ll be sad for 10 days so he brought me to Goose Station for 2 hours of dining. HAPPINESS! :) For this restaurant, I’m dividing it into 2 parts because it’s so long. I can go on and on about food.

The Goose Station is a modern degustation restaurant by celeb chef couple, Sunshine and Rob Pengson. (Can you just imagine how magical it is inside their home kitchen?!) It offers a 10-course Signature Degustation Menu, a 5-course Express Menu and Ala Carte. We decided to get 1 Signature and 1 Express so we get to try different plates!

image

Welcome Snack: Foie Gras in a Cone. This was one of the first things I’ve wanted to try in Goose Station! It’s creamy foie gras wrapped in a phyllo pastry cone topped with strawberry jelly, hazelnut and micro arugula.

image

As soon as you bite into the soft cone, the foie gras will ooze out, balanced by the zing of strawberry jelly and the crunch of the hazelnut. It was heaven in a bite!

image

Trio of Snacks: Deconstruced Mais con Yelo, Jamon Croquetta (with mini malunggay) and Potato Chip. This trio sampler will definitely leave you more excited for the dishes to come!

The deconstructed mais con yelo is like the Filipino dessert mais con yelo minus the ice and sugar. Think of it as a creamy soup with corn bits. (Not a big fan of corn with cream though!)

The Jamon Croquetta was so bitin because it was so tasty, crunchy and flavorful but it leaves your tongue in milliseconds!

Potato Chip. This is by far the most elegant potato chip I’ll ever eat in my life. It was so pretty, I didn’t want to eat it whole so I ate in small bites.

image

Caviar Surprise. Avruga caviar - top layer, prawn jelly - 2nd layer, white asparagus flan - 3rd layer, king crab - 4th layer.

image

When the waiter brought this to the table and described what was in it, I couldn’t breath with excitement. Haha! I was so amazed that they put together so many great flavors in one dish! I love caviar with any type of creamy flan and the asparagus is definitely one of the best complimentary flavor to the sharp taste of caviar.

The best part? When I found the king crab at the bottom of the delicate dish. It was really a lovely and luxurious surprise!

image

Tomato Soup with Tinapa Flakes, Baby Malunggay and Foam

image

I enjoy tomato soups a lot because it’s appetizing but not too filling like other creamy soups! This was good but Eugene was a bit wary of the tinapa flakes! Oooh but the foam made up for it though. I love any dish with those foamy goodness.

image

Deconstructed Eggs Benedict. Slow cooked egg with hollandaise foam, truffle oil topped with Bacon Tuile.

image

This garnered a lot of oohs and ahhs as the waiter explained it to us. This type of Eggs Benedict has the same poached yellow goodness (that oozes out when you break it) but what’s exciting is the creamy, almost gooey cooked egg white! The waiter told us that it was SLLLLOOOOWWW cooked for hours at a very low temperature. Imagine cooking an egg for hours??! It came out so DELICIOUS together with the hollandaise foam (there goes the foam again!) and truffle oil!!! YUMMMYY. The crisp bacon also contrasted the gooey-ness and I loved dipping it into the eggs!

image

Carrot and Beet Garden. Beets, Beet Sorbet, Carrot Jelly with Goat Cheese, Pickled Carrots and Hazelnut Soil.

image

This was one of the most innovative dishes I’ve tried! Isn’t it so pretty? I’m not a big fan of beets but the whole dish was such an adventure that I couldn’t help but finish the whole thing! I really enjoyed the surprising beet sorbet and the pickled carrots. Plus, the hazelnut acting as soil was fun eating too! I felt like a wabbit. At this point, I was smiling from ear to ear!

So there goes the 1st part of our Goose Station adventure! Bitin right?! I’ll post the 2nd part within the week which will be all about Main Courses so make sure you’re full from dinner when you catch up on my blog. I’m so excited to share it already!!!

Hayden for Maldita Man Press Launch

image

Better late than never! Doc H asked me to invite some bloggers, (me included! YES!) to attend the press launch for Maldita Man with no else but Dr. Hayden Kho as the endorser! Good job, Doc H! This was last October but I’m pretty sure everyone has already seen the big ass store posters and the billboard along C5.

image

The launch was held at Mango Tree Bistro at TriNoma and the program started with a background of Maldita Man and why they chose Doc H as their endorser. Maldita Man chose Hayden because “he exudes the the entire essence of a Maldita Man, someone who has discerning taste, well educated, well traveled, constantly connected and updated despite his fast-paced world.” Having known Doc H for a while now, he definitely the epitome of a Maldita Man!

image

They also presented a short video on the photos that were taken for the campaign. It was pretty impressive because the clothes on the video looks as fasyooon as Doc dresses everyday. It only means Maldita Man is at par with Doc H’s EVERYDAY Lanvin, Louis Vuitton and Hermes ensembles! Hehehe!

image

(Can you spot Joey texting? hehehe!) There was also a Q&A portion which involved some of the press to ask some personal questions and on top of the list of questions, his love life!

image

Of course, the love of his life, Dr. Belo was there to support Doc H all the way and also answered some questions from the press. I love Dr. Belo ‘cos she is always bubbly and game even if the press can be so assertive!

image

During the Q&A we were served a plate of Mango Tree’s bestsellers! I looooved the shrimp cakes! :)

image

After getting our tummies full at Mango Tree Bistro, we were asked to go down to the Maldita Store for the unveiling of Doc H’s store front display.

image

No other than Jinkee Pacquaio, (the Pacquiaos are really good friends of Dr. Belo and Doc H!) graced the event for the unveiling. Check out her gold bandage skirt! LOVE!

image

TADA! Finally, the photo wall is revealed!

image

After the unveiling, all of the press rushed inside to interview Doc H and I’m pretty sure, Jinkee! It was a stampede and we had to step aside for us not to get knocked out with a videocam!

image

image

PAPA-PAPARAZZI!

image

Doc H with Janet and Jinkee! Which is which?? :)

image

I was with Eric of Fierce Blogs the whole time! Hi Eric! :)

image

With the gorgeous Giselle! Good to see you again girl! ;) Here’s her blog Flirtatia! Cute! (Gulo lang ng hair ko dito!)

image

Celebrating over good wine!

image

If you’re wondering what the Maldita Man clothes look like, check the photo above! Eric and I actually loved their weekender leather bags! He bought one on the spot!

image

And did you know Maldita also carries shoes?! check out their current collection! I love the gray blocked platform wedges!

image

Here’s what I wore to the event!

origami dress worn as a top: Rockwell Bazaar | red orange bandage skirt: Pink Manila | gold wedges: Possibility by the Ramp | gold/red necklace: Forever21 | wood necklace: Boracay | Speedy: Louis Vuitton |

Thank you for the invitation Doc H and CONGRATULATIONS! Heading out now to use my Maldita black card! Oooh!

I go Indian!

I love Indian food! I must admit,  I wasn’t a fan before just ‘cos I can’t understand the menu. Totoo lang! haha Anyway, I found myself craving for roti one day (Roti, which I first tried at a bar! LOL) and I decided that hey, I should just go and try an authentic Indian restaurant right? To date, I have 2 Indian restaurants on top of my list and you can easily find both. There’s New Bombay and Hossein’s Persian Kebab.

Just say these magic words whenever you go to any restaurant with an unintelligible menu: “Sir, what’s your bestseller?”

image

The pretty chandelier at Hossein’s.

I loved Indian food straight of the bat because of Palak Paneer. If you’re one of my 2 blog readers, you would know I LOVE CHEESE.

image

Palak Paneer is basically spinach with paneer (farmer’s cottage cheese) on a thick curry sauce. The cheese is not too salty so it complements the curry an spinach. An who doesn’t love curry right? YUMMYYYY. I would choose this over Italianni’s artichoke dip any day. (This is Palak Paneer from New Bombay.)

It’s best eaten with:

image

Garlic Naan from New Bombay. This naan is super good! It’s sweet, chewy and crispy at the same time! Plus, the garlic flavor is really good with the Palak Paneer.

Now let’s start with the entree’s shall we?

image

Chelou Lamb Shish from Hossein’s. Eugene always orders rice when we eat Indian, Mediterranean or Persian and I order any type of pita, roti or naan with my main dish. This is Eugene’s order of Lamb kebab with the usual long rice. It was just so so for me because I did’nt enjoy the jelly-like texture of the lamb too much! I wonder why it’s jelly-like??

image

Malai Tikka. I super love this grilled chicken from New Bombay! It’s really juicy and you can request how spicy you want it. You can really taste the chicken flavor. It’s perfect with the Palak Paneer and Garlic Naan. LOVE!

image

Check out New Bombay’s bill! Kakaloka, walang TOTAL! Kelangan pa mag-math! At handwritten sya ha. LOL

Putting aside the bill issue, I must say that for the price and good food, New Bombay and Hossein’s are both good picks for Indian Restaurants. I have yet to try try Legend of India though, I here it’s pretty awesome too!

Oh, check out my ambigram made by Trisha Gesilva! I LOVE YOU! :)
